General
Is Redbook Assist approved by RICS?
Redbook Assist is a software tool that supports RICS-compliant valuations. It is not "approved" by RICS (RICS does not approve software), but it is designed to meet the requirements of the RICS Red Book (Global Standards). The responsibility for compliance remains with the individual valuer.
Who is Redbook Assist for?
Redbook Assist is built for RICS chartered surveyors (MRICS, FRICS, AssocRICS) and their teams who carry out Red Book valuations. It is particularly suited to small and mid-sized practices that want professional-grade tools without enterprise software costs.
Is my data secure?
Yes. All data is stored in the United Kingdom (eu-west-2 region) with AES-256 encryption at rest and TLS 1.3 in transit. Your practice data is isolated using row-level security — no other practice can access your records.
Can I import data from my existing systems?
For the MVP, properties and valuations are entered manually. If you have a large dataset to migrate, contact us at hello@redbookassist.uk and we can discuss a data import.
Properties
Why is no EPC data showing for my property?
The EPC register only includes properties with certificates lodged since 2008. Some properties (particularly older ones that have not been sold or let) may not have an EPC. Also check that the address matches the register format exactly — flat descriptions can cause mismatches.
Why is no Land Registry data showing?
The open Land Registry dataset only includes residential sales in England and Wales. Commercial transactions, sub-sales, and properties in Scotland and Northern Ireland are not included.
Can I add properties in Scotland or Northern Ireland?
You can add any UK property. However, some data sources (Land Registry, Flood Risk) only cover England and Wales. EPC data is available for England, Wales, and Northern Ireland. Scotland has a separate EPC register that is not currently integrated.
Valuations
How many valuations can I do per month?
Your monthly allowance depends on your plan and number of seats. Starter: 10 per seat per month. Professional: 25 per seat per month. Additional valuations are charged at £5 each.
Can I use multiple approaches on one valuation?
Yes. You can add multiple calculation approaches to a single valuation. This is good practice for cross-checking, especially on complex properties.
Can I edit a completed valuation?
No. Completed valuations are locked to protect the audit trail. If you need to revise, create a new valuation and reference the original. This approach is consistent with RICS best practice.
Billing
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) processed securely through Stripe.
Can I get an invoice for my accountant?
Yes. All invoices are available on the Billing page and can be downloaded as PDF. They include your practice details, VAT (if applicable), and itemised charges.
What happens if I cancel?
Your data is preserved for 90 days in read-only mode. You can resubscribe at any time during this period. After 90 days, we may contact you before permanently removing data.
